Entryway!

The entry way was bugging me.  More than bugging me, it drove me  nuts.  And I only had to look at it what, 200 times a day.  When we bought the house last year the entry way was covered in linoleum, and we knew we wanted to change that.  We even bought ceramic tile and a tile saw... but we never got around to actually doing that.  So I took a little iniative and decided I was going to sticky tile it.  For now, just til the man can get around to doing his end of it.  Apparently now he wants to redo the entire stair area, so it may be a while.  But at least now the area is tolerable!
Here are a few befores...
And  during... with the stinking dog...
And now completed... Well completed for now. I want to add a small table and plant maybe.  Not sure if I want to do a few hooks or if the area will be too cluttered.  Or if I should add art... there isn't much room.

Phobias

I hate birds.  HATE.  Capital and everything.  Gross me out.  And as I get older my fear gets worse so that right now its definitely a phobia.  My nightmare would be to be stuck in a room with birds or have a bird get in my hair, or many other bird scenarios.
But in the spirit of spring, I bought a little glass jar that held a nest, two little eggs and (heaven forbid) a fake bird.  I was on the hunt for some apothecary jars, and this one fit the bill.  I can fill it with candy, or trinkets, or glass bulbs.  I adore the little nest and eggs, but that bird...  When I opened it up at the shop I actually got grossed out and flung the fake bird to the floor.  Regained my senses, and picked it back up.  I'm an adult, I can handle this.
So not its at our home, on our TV console, and the kids are partially obsessed with it.  One, that I would even buy anything bird related, 2.  that one of my children has inherited my bird phobia, and 3.  that it has become a new "pet."  So for now... the bird is staying (in his glass jar and no where near my hair.)

Another snow day!

Yay!  Another snow day.  Although right now it seems I only post on snow days....  just so happens.  But the kids and I had a great day, shoveling out, playing barbies and snuggling.  Now I'm ready for bed.

Update on our downstairs project.... we have furniture (hand-me-down) and a fireplace (brand spanking new from Lowes) and paint on the walls (leftover peanut butter from upstairs).  Now all we need is the carpet.  Well and a bunch of other things... but thats the major component.

Dreaming of my sun room porch and doing other projects...

On the to do list:
Organizers for the kitchen cabinets
Sunroom porch redo
Group of frames
Family decal for stairway
new curtains for living/dining and kitchen area
repaint bathroom
repaint living/dining/kitchen
major redo of the playroom and office to make into a family room
the downstairs kitchen needs to be gutted and maybe a bar put in?

Ok... off to check out other blogs so I can be awed over their creativity and frustrated with how much I have to accomplish:)

Loooong day....

...... and I'm tired.  With my sister in law, then at a playspace with the kiddos, then home to make dinner and get the kiddos bathed and to bed.  Tomorrow a day of sledding and playing with some friends.  And to work... booo!  But it must be done.  And I'm pretty lucky to work such minimal hours.
The kiddos are having a "sleepover" in Annalyse's room.  And I still here whispering.  Its cute, love to see them so close.  But its getting late.  And as I already covered, I am tirrrred.
Ok.... til tomorrow!

Christmas is over... and the snow is coming!

Christmas was great., wonderful, fantastic. Really.  The best one ever.  Kiddos got a million things.  But all great things.  Love that.  Love the screaming "Santa came!"  at 6 something in the morning.  Loved hanging with my fam, and the mans fam, and karoake caroling, and my kids gambling... loved it all.

But now the snow is coming.  We will see what I wake up to in the morning.  The man is out plowing, and has been working all day.   I'm looking forward to hanging with the kiddos.  Maybe cleaning downstairs.  And defintely some sledding and snow play.

First post

So I've been playing around with the idea of blogging.  No more waiting, I'm going for it.  After all, the kids are sleeping, I'm waiting for the Man to come home.  Can't go paint my basement when its dark and freezing down there.  So I'm blogging.  Sure... that makes sense.
Ok, a list.  I like lists, leave lots of them lying around.  Don't always follow through, but....
nobody's perfect right?
Christmas is around the corner, still need:
Gifts for the Man
Stocking Stuffers
Bake cookies, hand out to neighbors
Christmas cards  (this would have been crossed off the list tonight if the Man didn't get called into work)
Get wallpaper and paint for downstairs

I can do that in 10 days right???  Plus make everyday magical for the kiddos, plus maintain my sanity???
Ugh... ok I will check back in tomorrow to see if I got anything done....
